The Problem:   How to tame static hair?  

 

Statically charged fly-away hair is a common and persistent problem in areas with low relative humidity, especially during dry winter seasons.  Existing offerings  target frizz-control but do not adequately address statically charged hair.  Older products that were used to control static were silicone based and weighed hair down.  An additional concern is that most existing products have an offensive odor or are heavily perfumed in order to mask these odors.  Additionally, some clients have hypoallergenic conditions which prevent them from using products that contain fragrances.

 

The Solution: Exstatyk was developed to neutralize statically charged hair.  It is odor and fragrance-free.

 

 

SENSORY ELEMENT 1: APPEARANCE / AESTHETICS >>>> EFFECTIVENESS IN  NEUTRALIZING  STATIC

 

One common approach to static control is to lower the pH content of the hair, thereby reducing the negative charge which causes static.  Problems with this methodology includes the risk of damaging hair further by continually altering its natural pH.  

Other approaches include the use of silicone polymers to coat the hair strands to insulate them from static charge.  A problem with the silicone based formulations is that it can weight hair down, reducing volume.  

 

Exstatyk is formulated to neutralize static directly by neutralizing the negatively charged hair by countering it with a positive charge, effectively neutralizing the hair charge ionically, and not chemically.  

 

SENSORY ELEMENT 2:  HAIR FEEL >>>> MOISTURIZING, NON-STICKY, NON-IRRITATING

 

No harsh drying alcohols are used in our solution. Alcohols are often used in hair care products to promote drying, and sometimes to solubilize the active ingredients. Unfortunately, alcohol has a drying effect on hair and contributes to brittleness and damage.  Since ExStatyk is water based it adds moisture to hair instead of drying it.  

 

A specially designed pump spray ensures that a fine mist atomizes the product and lightly distributes it over the hair surface.  Since a fine mist is delievered, the active ingredients in ExStatyk neutralize the ionic charges which cause hair strands to repel each other, while the water carrier dries naturally within a minute or so.

 

 

Use sparingly. Only a pump or two is necessary to neutralize the ions that cause static. 

 

 

SENSORY ELEMENT 3: SCENT >>>> ODOR-FREE AND FRAGRANCE-FREE

 

ExStatyk is fragrance-free. Our research has shown that the choice of fragrance is a personal preference and is typically added to mask the often unpleasant odors that are intrinsic to many hair care formulations. The other issue with fragrances is that most have an alcohol base which will dry hair and may even cause irritation on certain skin types. Instead, our approach has been to carefully select and combine ingredients such that a masking fragrance is unnecessary.
